    Mwai Kibaki Gallery

The Presidency, Reforms, And Public Service Legacy Of H.E. Mwai Kibaki, CGH.

His Excellency Mwai Kibaki, CGH (1931 to 2022), served as the third President of the Republic of Kenya from December 2002 to April 2013, and as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces. An economist and statesman, he was widely respected for his measured leadership and steady focus on national renewal.

His public service spanned more than five decades. He was Vice-President of Kenya from 1978 to 1988, the longest-serving Minister for Finance in the country's history, and also held the portfolios of Home Affairs and Health. As Member of Parliament for Othaya from 1974 to 2013, and Leader of the Official Opposition from 1998 to 2002, he became a defining figure of post-independence governance.

His presidency, anchored by the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC), is associated with sustained economic recovery, the expansion of free primary education, large-scale infrastructure development, and the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya.

He was awarded the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (CGH). The gallery presents speeches, portraits, policy milestones, and personal items that document a public life devoted to nation-building.
